Indonesian Adventure: Backpacking through Java

Partnering again with OPPO to showcase their innovative flip phone, the Find N2 Flip, as I embarked on an exhilarating journey to three diverse travel destinations: Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea. Armed with the compact and versatile pocket-sized phone, my adventure commenced on the scenic western side of the Indonesian island of Java.

The series commenced with a breathtaking sunrise view atop Mt. Bromo, following a thrilling night hike to reach this picturesque vantage point. From there, my exploration led me to the culturally rich city of Yogyakarta in Central Java, where I embarked on a memorable day trip to marvel at the majestic Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. Finally, I concluded my journey capturing the radiant orange hues of sunset at the captivating Ratu Boko Temple.

This project offered a refreshing departure from my usual photography style, allowing me to immerse myself in the captivating landscapes of these remarkable destinations. The adventurous spirit of this trip left an indelible mark on me, leaving behind cherished memories and igniting a desire to plan my next midnight hike.

Enchanting Sakura Season in Japan

The primary aim of this project was to capture the enchanting beauty of Japan’s cherry blossom season, known as Sakura season, in a way that inspires viewers to consider planning their own trip to Japan

Sakura season in Japan is a highly anticipated time of year, typically occurring from late March to early April. During this period, cherry blossom trees burst into full bloom, painting the landscape with delicate shades of white and pink. This natural phenomenon holds immense cultural significance in Japan, symbolizing the fleeting nature of life and the transient beauty of existence.

In my photographs, I focused on showcasing the stunning blossoms in their prime, surrounded by soft pastel tones that evoke a sense of tranquility and harmony. Additionally, I incorporated elements such as a lone boat drifting along a serene river to add a touch of peacefulness to the compositions. By highlighting the allure of Sakura season through imagery, my goal was to evoke a sense of wanderlust and encourage viewers to consider experiencing this magical time in Japan for themselves.

Finding my Seoul-mate

In the third project of this campaign, I ventured to South Korea for the third and final project. This series embraces an exploration of diverse shades of brown tones, captured across various locations within the vibrant city of Seoul.

My journey began with a serene sunrise exploration of Bukchon Hanok Village, offering a tranquil start to the day amidst traditional Korean architecture. Later, my lens was drawn to two distinct bookstores that intrigued me with their unique shapes and intricate patterns. Finally, I immersed myself in the grandeur of Gyeongbokgung Palace, capturing the inner courtyard with its timeless beauty and historical significance.

Perspective Photography in Singapore

The goal of the first project was marked by an innovative approach aimed at crafting captivating visual narratives through the manipulation of perspective. Employing techniques such as flipping and rotating images, I endeavored to imbue each composition with a sense of dynamism and intrigue. To further accentuate the play of illusions, I opted for a minimalist color scheme, predominantly featuring shades of white and gray, allowing the architectural elements to take center stage in their abstract forms.

In the bustling metropolis of Singapore, I found an abundance of photo opportunities that transformed the city into a veritable playground for my creative vision. First, the iconic Art Science Museum stood as a beacon of modern architectural marvel, its futuristic design serving as a canvas for my experimentation with perspective. Additionally, the Dhoby Ghaut MRT station and the historic Old Hill Police Station provided captivating backdrops for my photographic explorations, each offering its own unique blend of architectural splendor and cultural significance.

Neon Lights in Taiwan and Japan

In the second phase of this campaign, the spotlight shifted to the mesmerizing world of Night Lights, with a collection of images captured across the bustling cities of Tokyo, Osaka, and Taipei, showcasing the vibrant tapestry of neon illuminations that define their nocturnal landscapes.

The remarkable capabilities of the OPPO Find N3 Flip phone truly shone in the face of challenging low-light conditions, effortlessly capturing the electrifying ambiance of these urban settings. With the flexibility to manually adjust shutter speed and ISO settings, coupled with the ability to shoot in RAW format, the editing process became an exhilarating endeavor, allowing for unparalleled creative control and resulting in stunning visual narratives that encapsulated the essence of the night.

Symmetry and Reflection in Asia

In the concluding chapter of this campaign, my focus sharpened on the pursuit of strong compositions characterized by symmetrical elements, both horizontal and vertical, resulting in an intriguing blend of visual harmony.

Spanning diverse locations across Singapore, Japan, Vietnam, and South Korea, this series delved into the rich tapestry of cultural and architectural landscapes each country offers. Harnessing the reflective surfaces found in rain puddles and tranquil ponds, I sought to create visually arresting reflections that added depth and resonance to every image, inviting viewers to journey through a world where symmetry meets serenity in captivating harmony.
